First Words Checklist

Does your child have a speech delay? Common first words can help your late talker or toddler
with their delayed speech. Below you will find a list of common first words to practice and monitor
when your child is at home, school, or in other social settings.

Review the list, add other words that your toddler may produce on a regular basis, and log their daily productions. If your child is not using some of these words yet, try targeting a few when participating in daily routines, especially play routines.
