Announcing Teletherapy

While the nation reels from the effects of COVID-19, businesses, schools, homes – all of us are adjusting to the “new normal”. Many providers and small businesses have been forced to temporarily close, leading to a disruption in critical services like pediatric therapy. However, at Project Play Therapy, our “new normal” includes being able to offer our patients and school partners teletherapy as an alternative.

What is Teletherapy?

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines Telehealth as health care services that use telecommunications and virtual technology to deliver health care outside of traditional health-care facilities. For Project Play Therapy that involves holding therapeutic sessions via videoconferencing over the computer. Teletherapy offers numerous benefits for therapists, clients, and families. Not only does it allow everyone to stay safely socially distanced from each other, but it also is a convenient option that fits easily into most families lives, allowing the consistency and quality care that Project Play Therapy families and school partners experience during their in-person sessions.

Benefits include:

Quality: Countless studies, over the last decade, have shown teletherapy sessions allow for the same quality of care and effectiveness of traditional in-person services. The same therapists that your family knows and loves have been trained to deliver services via teletherapy – and they still have the same commitment to making sure your child reaches their fullest potential.

Convenience: Project Play Therapy’s teletherapy sessions are HIPAA compliant, so real-time, two-way communication can occur with your Project Play therapist, from the comfort of your home. All you need to connect with our team is a computer and working internet connection.

Flexibility: Since we connect virtually, we are not constrained by physical location, and our online services are compatible with most devices. We work hard to accommodate your scheduling needs, so if this has changed – please reach out to any of our three offices. We work with (and accept) most insurance policies – feel free to call our office with any questions regarding your coverage.

Who is approved to deliver teletherapy services?

Project Play Therapists are all professionally licensed by the national and state level certifying boards for their therapeutic disciplines. They maintain professional licensure and undergo specialized training in order to deliver teletherapy services and support your family’s success.

We are now providing teletherapy for the following disciplines (Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Behavioral Therapy), and we are continuing to work with insurance companies so that you are fully informed about your coverage for sessions. For more information on teletherapy, please contact any of our three locations or email us at info@projectplaytherapy.com.
