ADHD Awareness Month

October is ADHD Awareness Month! This is a great opportunity to share facts, resources, and current information about this common brain-based disorder that is part of life for many children, teens, and adults across the world.

What is ADHD?

ADHD is an abbreviation for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. It is a specific set of brain differences that affect the ability to focus attention, complete detail-oriented tasks, and control impulses. ADHD is usually diagnosed in childhood, and about 75% of children with ADHD still experience noticeable symptoms into young adulthood. However, ADHD is complex and can look and feel very different from person to person.

Resources

ADHD Awareness Month is brought to us by CHADD, a leading non-profit national organization for children and adults with ADHD. To educate the community about ADHD and available resources, CHADD has shared a large collection of personal stories, videos, articles, and fact sheets for parents, educators, and anyone who knows and loves someone with ADHD.
