Last week Project Play Therapy happily welcomed an addition to our occupational therapy toolkit: a new swing!
While we have three offices in the area (Nashville, Franklin and Nolensville) equipped with gyms, our Nashville office gym needed some help. As we re-launched our Nashville office, we began the process of creating a sensory gym for our occupational therapists and their clients to utilize. The gym was quickly filled with a foam pit, trampoline, balance beam, and sensory rice box along with other helpful tools. However, installing a swing proved to be more challenging. As a result, we collaborated with Welding Unlimited, Inc. to create a custom frame for our new swing.
Swings are helpful in occupational therapy sessions for many reasons! Improved sensory processing and regulation through stimulation of the vestibular system, the soothing motion of the swing and motivation for other activities include merely a few benefits of using swings in therapy. Our occupational therapists are thrilled to offer this as a part of their sessions now at Project Play Therapy Nashville!
