These apps incorporate music to target creativity, self-expression, reading skills, mindfulness, emotion regulation, and more! 

 

Apps for Creativity and Self-Expression

Garageband

  • Cost: Free
  • Explore tons of instruments, sound effects, musical loops, and more to create and record your own songs! 

Launchpad:

  • Cost: Free
  • Create your own DJ-style set by making and remixing electronic music. This easy-to-use app lets you combine beats, basslines, melodies, vocals, and special effects.

Keezy Drummer:

  • Cost: Free
  • Have fun while using this colorful drum machine to experiment with beats! Keezy Drummer is similar to Launchpad, but less complex.

Incredibox:

  • Cost: $3.99
  • Compose your own songs using this great mix of beat-boxing characters, music, graphics, and interactivity. 

Loopimal:

  • Cost: $3.99
  • Create musical loops using animal sounds instead of instruments! 

StarMaker:

  • Cost: Free
  • Who doesn’t love karaoke? Did you know that karaoke is a motivating and fun way to practice reading fluency?

Magic Piano by Smule:

  • Cost: Free
  • Play along to popular songs in this fun rhythm game, which is also great for supporting motor coordination and timing. 

Rhythm Cat / Treble Cat / Bass Cat:

  • Cost: Free “lite” versions available, regular versions are $4.99
  • Learn how to read musical rhythms and identify notes on the treble and bass clefs in these fun games! Reading music can help to strengthen your ability to read and absorb information from other sources.

Fingertip Maestro:

  • Cost: Free
  • Instantly play lots of different instruments by simply tapping and sliding your finger across the screen!

Music Sparkles:

  • Tap, play, and explore a variety of instruments.
