Gratitude Song: Thanksgiving 2021
Gratitude Song
Thanksgiving week is here, and what better way to teach your kids about gratitude than through music? Practicing gratitude can help us to feel more positive emotions, deal with stress, build strong relationships, and can even improve our overall health!
Click HERE for a video of our music therapist singing “Thanks a Lot” by Raffi – you can find the lyrics below!
Here are some suggestions for using this song with your child:
- Have your child count all the things the singer is thankful for.
- Have your child draw pictures of their favorite things listed in the song.
- Listen to the song and guide your child in taking deep breaths; encourage them to think about the things they are thankful for while listening.
- Work with your child to make a list/draw a picture of the things that they would sing about! Talk about what they are thankful for and why.
- Rewrite the song to create your own gratitude song – add things you are thankful for in the lines, “Thanks for _________,” and sing it to the same tune!
